About us
The Heron Gliding Club operates from RNAS Yeovilton near Yeovil in Somerset. It is a service club (Royal Navy) but we also have some civilian members.
The club has a fleet of three gliders. These are two SZD-50-3 Puchacz two seat gliders which are used for training and a Grob Astir CS77 single seater. We also operate a Falke motor glider.
We launch the gliders by aerotow using the Falke, and by autotow using a 5.0 litre Ford pickup truck specially modified for the purpose.
RNAS Yeovilton (HMS Heron) is located near Ilchester, just north of Yeovil, Somerset.
We offer trial lessons via the British Gliding Association voucher scheme, or you may buy a voucher directly from us. Details via the link above. However, for the time being we are unable to offer new membership to civilians.
